During their time at The Modern, students in the User Experience Design Program learn that strong design rarely happens alone. Collaboration and teamwork are central to the experience. For example, in one of their User Experience design classes, students are placed into small teams and work on a shared project, with each person taking on a specific role. Along the way, teams practice communicating ideas clearly, managing deadlines, and making decisions together.
Working in teams also helps students approach problems from different perspectives. An idea that feels solid at first often becomes stronger through conversation and feedback. Students learn how to explain their thinking, support their design decisions, and work through challenges as a group. This reflects how design teams operate in real-world professional settings.
By working closely with others, students build skills that go beyond the classroom. Learning how to listen, give constructive feedback, and adapt their work are all valuable skills that prepare students for internships and future careers.
