The Modern Announces Return to In-Person Learning

The Modern is pleased to announce that students will return to in-person learning on May 10, 2021, and The Modern plans to continue offering in-person classes throughout the summer and fall terms.

The Modern will offer residential programs on campus to allow students to connect with instructors during class and office hours. The Modern will also offer online programs for students who prefer asynchronous learning.

The Modern is committed to meeting the following goals to ensure a safe transition back to in-person learning:
• Protect the health of students, faculty, staff, and visitors

• Support community efforts to control the spread of the virus

• Create a safe and comfortable environment on campus

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors will continue to wear face-coverings, socially distance, practice good hygiene, and complete symptom assessments before entering campus.

"With the expeditious vaccine roll out and declining community transmission rates in Montgomery County, we are confident that students, faculty, staff, and visitors can safely return to campus for in-person learning," stated President Jessica Barry. "We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus in May."

The Modern administration will continue to follow state and CDC guidance and will adjust plans as needed.
